Principal's Message 5/7/25

We look forward to seeing all the special role models for Mass and Muffins with Mom tomorrow!  Moms/Role Models will find their students and may sit anywhere in the church. We will all go to the parish hall for muffins after Mass!

We pray together as the Cardinals enter the conclave:
Holy Spirit, enlighten the Church at this time, especially all the cardinals you call to take part in the conclave. Grant them wisdom and holiness so that all may cooperate with your inspiration and guidance to elect the next Vicar of Christ, your chosen servant. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Penny War Tally will be in this week!  We have been waiting for a coin counter repair!  Thank you for your patience.

A few last "End of the Year" reminders!
1.  Students need to be in uniform every day!  Shirts are tucked in, belts are on, and the bottoms are properly fitting.
2. Students eating breakfast need to arrive by 7:15 to be able to finish before they go upstairs at 7:25.
3.  Keep going strong!  Watch for MANY big days coming up!

All Servant Leadership Hours are DUE in FAMILY PORTAL by May 31, 2025.  Any hours submitted after that date will not be counted toward the requirement of 20 hours per family.  Every hour that is not accounted for, out of the required 20 hours, will be converted into a $20 per hour charge.
The charge will be added to the upcoming year's FACTs account.

Join us in praying for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis:

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
~Amen~

On Wednesday, 3/26, JPII was visited by the KCSS (Kentucky Center for Safe Schools) for a Safety Check Review.  We will receive a detailed report in the coming weeks.  The reviewers, Dan Orman and Matt Moore, had this to report after their visit: "We were so impressed with not only the results of having a school that is so safe and secure, but the way in which that has been achieved. Every detail has been examined, and you guys have a process for asking questions and getting answers. John Paul II is an exceptional example of what happens when educators decide they are going to have a school that is a safe and secure place for teaching and learning – an actual process that leads to “Commitment over Compliance”!"

ENROLLMENT IS GOING ON NOW!  Log in to your Family Portal to complete the enrollment.  You must submit your $11 before the process is complete.  This $11 is a charge that FACTS has to process their online enrollment.  This money does not go to the school.

New students, from our current families, must complete an application before enrolling.  This charge is $25 and also goes directly to FACTS, not the school.

Subsidy Confirmed Amounts

As the individual parish councils and parish finance councils begin to meet, they have been relaying their subsidy amounts to us.  All families are REQUIRED to meet with their parish priest EVERY YEAR to determine if they are eligible for subsidy.  The School has no part in this determination process.  Also, remember that the subsidy program is a GIFT, not a guarantee.  Our county is one of the very few in the diocese that even offer a subsidy program so please remember to thank the parishes for this!  Most parishes require that you be a member for at least a year before receiving a subsidy.  Here are the numbers that we have so far:

Sacred Heart/St. Peter: $2550

St. Ambrose: $2550

St. Francis: $2550

St. Agnes: $2900

St. Ann: $2900

Also, make note that many churches do not host subsidy meetings until late April or May.  If your family is waiting until AFTER your subsidy meeting to register, please notify me at [email protected] so I can waive your $150 late fee for registering after April 15th.  If you do not notify me before April 15th, a $150 late fee will be applied to your account.

Would you like to become a substitute teacher for our school?  We need those who are able to sub for our classrooms/aide positions/specials.  Must be 18 to apply.

We have had donations in the amounts of the following:

$100,$100, $1000, $5000, $8400 (Fund the Need Total), and $20,000 to start our Guardian Angel Fund.  All of these have come in since our school-wide meeting. Say a prayer of Thanksgiving for these beautiful donors and their families.

Total Funds: $34,600

We used approx. $14,000 of these donations (the quote was $13,696) to purchase our new boiler for downstairs, and it arrived on site today.  It will be installed within the next week by Elite Plumbing.  The official total will be updated once the invoice for the boiler arrives.

$500 was spent by the donor directly to purchase new sinks for the downstairs bathrooms. The State will inspect soon to allow PK to eat downstairs again.

Approx. Remaining Funds: $20,600

We also had 4 American Flags donated to keep on hand for when the flag needs to be replaced.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY- Junior Achievement Volunteer

JPII has participated in Junior Achievement for many years.  Junior Achievement program teaches financial literacy to students at every grade level at JPII!

Each grade level participates in a 5 week course (1 day a week or 5 straight days in a row) every year that targets a different aspect of business and careers.

We are in need of some volunteers to teach our students!  All lessons are 1 hour and have all the materials ready made with activities included.  It is a very simple lesson that most everyone can handle.  Lessons can be taught in tandem with two people leading or with just one.

Follow this link: https://westky.ja.org/volunteer/volunteer-now to sign up to teach our kids! Be sure to put in the box which grade levels at JPII you want to help with
